Selfmade and fresh mayonnaise tastes much better than the mayonnaise from the supermarket.
But to make mayonnaise yourself with the classic method sounds easier to me than it is. I learned to mix all ingredients and pur the oil slowly, slowly while stiring the mixture. A long procedure which demands a lot of patience and at the end it didn’t even work out. This was the reason why I never served my meals with mayonnaise. But what a great loss, mayonnaise is perfect with grilled meat, fish and vegetables. Then one day my brother visited me and showed me a methode to make mayonnaise with a very, very easy and quick method. It’s so easy that I still can’t believe why I didn’t stumbled over it earlier in my life.
For the mayonnaise you need:
1 egg
1 teaspoon mustard (if you use mustard powder, mind the instruction of the package)
some salt and pepper (to one’s own taste)
some lemon juice (to one’s own taste)
¼ l sunflower oil or rape oil
optionally you can add garlic or chilli pepper
And now please pay attention, there is a little secret which is really important for the success in making mayonnaise yourself:
All ingredients need to have room temperatur – never forget it!
You also need a narrow and high shaker and a hand blender.
Put all ingredients into the shaker. Set the blender down to the bottom of the shaker.
Turn on the blender and wait till the mixture is starting to get thick. That’s it – the mayonnaise is ready.
Easy to do for everybody. But don’t forget that all ingredients have to have room temperatur otherwise this procedure will not work.
