Marble Cake

A Marble Cake is the traditional birthday cake in our family. The cake will baked in a bundt cake pan which has a hole in the middle. In the picture I decorated the cake with flowers.
As a birthday cake we put a candle in the middle of the cake. I made this cake all the years for my children. Now the kids bake this cake for their friends.

Recipe
250 g sugar
250 g soft butter
1 package vanilla sugar
4 eggs
some grated lemon rind (organic!)
500 g flour
1 package baking powder
150 ml milk
2 -3 tablespoons rum
4 – 5 tablespoons cacao powder

Preheat the oven to 175 °C.
Butter a bundt cake pan. Mix flour and baking powder. Beat butter, sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy. Add one by one the eggs. Add the lemon rind. Add the flour mixture step by step. In between add step by step 100 ml milk.

Halve the dough. Fill one half in to the bundt cake pan. Mix the other half with cacao powder, rum and the rest of the milk. Put the cacao dough on top of the light dough. Mix the two doughs with a fork spiral-shaped. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Tip: If the surface of the cake gets too dark cover it with aluminium foil.
