Zimtwecken oder Kanebullar

The kids from Bullerbü loved cinnamon rolls – called Kanebullar in Sweden. And Carlson on the Roof could eat lots of them.
My kids have grown up with the stories around Astrid Lindgren’s characters and with Kanebullar too. They could never have enough. Whatever I love cinnamon rolls too. The taste of cinnamon makes me happy and there is nothing better than fresh pastries out of yeast – and the emphasis belongs to fresh.

And here is the RECIPE
It’s done quick and easy.

For the dough
500 g flour
25 g yeast
¼ l lukewarm milk

½ teaspoon salt
75 g sugar
1 teaspoon ground cardamon
75 g flakes of butterFor the filling
40 g butter

50 g sugar
vanilla
1 tablespoon cinnamon

Melt the yeast in the lukewarm milk. Mix together all ingredients and knead them to a smooth dough. Put the dough into a bowl and cover it with a teatowel. Let the dough rest for 1 hour.

Meanwhile let the butter melt in a pot, add sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix all together.

Divide the dough in 3 pieces. Roll each piece in a rectangle and spread a third of the filling on the batter. Roll the batter from the longside to a roll. Cut the roll in pieces (as thick as a fnger) and put the pieces with the cut side on a greased baking tray. Coat the pieces with whisk egg. The cinnamon rolls should prove again for 15 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 250° C.
Let the rolls bake for 8 minutes.
