Our friend Michael loves Black & White Cookies – in Germany called “Schwarz-Weiß-Gebäck.
So whenever I have time I bake him some cookies for his birthday in August. I prefer to make a spiral design out of both doughs. More challenging is the chessboard pattern. In bakeries you can get very small Black & White Cookies. I like to make large cookies – it looks more generous for me.
White dough
50 g flour
6 g baking powder
150 g sugar
2 eggs
250 g butter
Knead all ingredients to a smooth dough. Half the dough.
Black dough
40 g chocolate powder
50 g sugar
3 tablespoons milk
Add these ingredients to one half of the white dough.
Preheat the oven to 160 °C.
Roll out each dough into a rectangel. Place the black dough on the white dough and from the long side roll them up to a spiral. Cut the spiral in slices and place them on a baking tray. Perhaps you have an other idea for a pattern combination – there are no limits to your imagination.
Bake the cookies for about 15 minutes.
